The Sportsman class features eight-cylinder stock cars based on 1960 or newer American-made passenger cars. These vehicles are modified for driver protection with roll cages, racing seats, and fuel cells while maintaining a predominantly stock chassis. Engines are limited to 362 cubic inches, with flat top pistons, stock heads, and limited cam lift. Competing on American Racer 870 tires, Sportsman cars are the second fastest division, with lap times around 15 seconds on the quarter mile. This class is particularly popular among those looking to advance to the Late Model division.Hobby Stocks
Hobby Stock cars are based on eight-cylinder stock production vehicles and are modified for driver protection with roll cages, racing seats, and fuel cells. The chassis remains completely stock, and engines are limited to 362 cubic inches with a 9.3:1 compression ratio. This division competes on takeoff American Racer racing tires, offering extraordinarily competitive racing. Many drivers from this division have progressed to more advanced classes.Hornets
